Emergency services close to home Portage County's only Level III emergency facility is centrally located at Robinson Memorial Hospital. The hospital also serves as medical control for most of Portage County's EMS (ambulance) squads.
Specialty trained emergency team The emergency physicians at Robinson Memorial Hospital are board certified and work closely with certified emergency nurses to deliver the best possible medical and trauma care. Patients may also receive care from other specialists including cardiologists, urologists and surgeons. Together, these physicians determine whether a patient is admitted to the hospital, transported to another medical center or asked to follow up with a specialist or primary care provider.
All emergency nurses at Robinson Memorial Hospital are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Many nurses hold multiple certifications including Trauma Nurse Core Course Certification (TNCC), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), and Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) status. These credentials assure that patients are cared for by qualified, knowledgeable staff who are experts in their area of practice.
Rapid patient care The Emergency Department helps expedite patient visits with larger, private triage and treatment areas that reduce the number of moves a patient needs to make. There is also a large trauma and acute care area dedicated to serious emergencies. The department also features portable cardiac monitoring equipment and an airway tube system to and from the lab and pharmacy. These amenities help keep medical professionals at the bedside instead of running errands.
The Emergency Department has a large patient and family waiting area and a separate play area for children. There is also ample parking space directly in front of the Emergency Department.
Access to regional trauma centers Robinson Memorial Hospital has a helipad to provide helicopter transportation services for acutely ill patients.
Convenient care for minor emergencies In addition to the Emergency Department, Robinson Memorial Hospital offers Med Center One - Streetsboro, an urgent care facility for minor injuries and illnesses when a patient's primary care physician is not available.
