Robinson Memorial Hospital was accredited as a Magnet facility for the second time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet recognizes quality patient care and nursing excellence and provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care they can expect to receive. Less than three percent of hospitals in the world currently hold Magnet status.

Robinson Memorial Hospital was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 65 Great Community Hospitals. Becker's Hospital Review editorial team analyzed and reviewed data from sources including U.S. News & World Report, HealthGrades, American Nurses Credentialing Center and Thomson Reuters to identify remarkable hospitals – high-performing leaders in patient care and clinical quality.

For the ninth consecutive year, Robinson Memorial Hospital was named as one of the top 99 employers in northeast Ohio by the Employers Resource Council. With 1,351 employees, the hospital is the second-largest employer in Portage County.

Robinson Memorial Hospital was ranked one of the best among area hospitals for avoiding infections by Consumer Reports Health. Consumer Reports Health compared infection rates at 1,119 hospitals nationwide. According to Consumer Reports Health, a hospital's ability to prevent infections is a reflection of its overall commitment to preventing infections and improving patient safety.

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons granted three-year accreditation with commendation to Robinson Memorial Hospital’s cancer program, marking the 11th time Robinson Memorial’s cancer program has earned the Community Hospital Cancer Program Accreditation.

Robinson Memorial Hospital’s Continuing Medical Education Program awarded re-accreditation for four more years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians by the Ohio State Medical Association Focused Task Force on Accreditation.

Robinson Memorial Hospital was awarded Level III Trauma Center reverification by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), recognizing Robinson Memorial’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.

Robinson Memorial Hospital was awarded re-accreditation by both the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) and by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) through 2014.

Twenty-one physicians with privileges at Robinson Memorial Hospital were named to Cleveland Magazine’s list of The Best Doctors in America®. Honored were: Critical Care - Charles R. Fuenning, MD; Hitesh Makkar, MD; Timothy C. Murray, MD; and Sanjiv Tewari, MD. Family Medicine - Karen Barton, MD and Sarah E. Lang, MD. Infectious Disease - Stephen J. Francis, MD; Joseph P. Myers, MD; Michael J. Tan, MD; and David F. Fantelli, MD. Internal Medicine/Hospice and Palliative Medicine - M. Radwany, MD. Nephrology - John F. Jacobs Jr., MD. Obstetrics and Gynecology - Stephen J. Andrews, MD; Michael P. Hopkins, MD; Eric L. Jenison, MD; and Vivian E. von Gruenigen, MD. Ophthalmology - Jeffrey C. Lamkin, MD; Lawrence E. Lohman, MD; Douglas J. Ripkin, MD; and Thomas J. Tsai, MD. Psychiatry - Melodie Morgan-Minott, MD.

Six physicians with privileges at Robinson Memorial Hospital were named to U.S. News Media Group’s list of ‘Top Doctors,’ listing the top peer-nominated physicians across the country. Honored were: Robert W. Egdell, MD, Obstetrician/Gynecologist; David F. Fantelli, MD, Internist; Mitchel Fromm, MD, Radiation Oncologist; Jeanette Moleski, DO, Family Medicine Doctor; Jose Rafecas, MD, Neurologist; andJen-Nan Yuh, MD, Colon and Rectal Surgeon.

Robinson Memorial Hospital received the Start! Fit-Friendly Company Award from the American Heart Association, acknowledging the hospital’s employee wellness programs.

Robinson Memorial Hospital was awarded STEMI Transfer Hospital of the Month Award from Summa Health System for March, May and July of 2011.

Kathy Malmfeldt, clerical technician was awarded the Ohio Sunrise Award for “Look Good, Feel Better” Outstanding Facilitator for 2011 by the American Cancer Society.

Cynthia Miller, physical therapy assistant was nominated for the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) Healthcare Worker of the Year Award. The Award is given each year to one Ohio caregiver who personifies a leader who gives back to the community, routinely goes beyond the call of duty and has overcome odds to succeed.

William Foster, RN was Robinson Memorial’s designee at The University of Akron’s Cameos of Caring nursing gala. Foster was chosen for his commitment to consistent clinical decision making and excellence in nursing, and for his advocacy towards patients and their families.

Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation selected Kim Negley for the 2011 Employee Distinguished Service Award. Negley, a patient advocate, was recognized for her ongoing involvement in the foundation’s support of patient care and community programs.

The Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation presented the 2011 Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Steve and Patti Dean and Norman Sandvoss (in memoraiam). The Deans have been integral members of the hospital for more than 30 years and active leaders of the Foundation. Norman Sandvoss served on the Robinson Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees from 2000 until he passed in 2010. Norm was active in many community organizations and was past Chairman of the Portage County Republican Party and of the Portage County Board of Elections.

Cynthia Miller, physical therapy assistant, was awarded the 2011 Service Excellence Superstar of the Year, which recognizes her commitment to patients, co-workers and the hospital. The award also recognizes Cynthia for displaying the standards of performance and for demonstrating the core values of respect, integrity, compassion and excellence.

Robinson Health Center at Streetsboro was awarded Business of the Year from the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce. The Business of the Year Award is for an individual or organization that exemplifies the best of enterprises in Streetsboro.
