Robinson Memorial Hospital Jewel of Portage County nets $100,000

Event supports mammography and diabetes care and education Ravenna, Ohio, Oct. 6, 2009 – More than 270 people from Portage County and Northeast Ohio enjoyed the Robinson Memorial Hospital Jewel of Portage County Gala held Oct. 3 at the Bertram Inn and Conference Center in Aurora. The gala raised $100,000 in support of two essential patient care services: mammograms for women and diabetes care and education. The annual event has raised more than $450,000 since it began four years ago. “We are grateful for the residents and businesses that support the Robinson Memorial Hospital Jewel of Portage County Gala,” said Deborah Solan, executive director of the Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Many individuals who cannot afford mammograms or go without access to diabetes care will be supported thanks to the generosity of event sponsors and attendees.” Diamond Dazzler Gala sponsors were: Allen Aircraft Products, Inc.; The Burbick Foundation; HFP Ambuske Architects; Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc.; Key Private Bank; Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Marquinez; Neurology & Neuroscience Associates, Inc. and Dr. Thomas and Holly Strachan; Physicians Emergency Services, Inc.; Picciones’; Portage Community Bank; and Ravenna Radiology, LLC. Sapphire Sensation Gala sponsors were: Aurora Manor Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing; SummaCare; Veyance Technologies, Inc.; and Bill White’s Akron Lanes – Bill and Eddye White. Ruby Radiance Gala sponsors were: Akron Children’s Hospital; Altercare Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center, Inc.; Area Agency on Aging; The Davey Tree Expert Co.; David and Janet Dix; Paula C. Giulitto; Huntington National Bank; Northeast Ohio Cardiovascular Specialists; Kathy and David Pangallo; Physician Staffing; Regency Hospital of Ravenna; Roetzel & Andress, LPA; Summa Health System; and Charles and Cathy Zumkehr. Gala guests had the opportunity to bid on more than 50 silent auction items, including vacation getaways, artwork, and other specialty baskets donated by individuals and businesses. Guests also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a $20,000 Harry Winston timepiece, donated by David Piccione and Picciones’. David was presented a plaque of appreciation for his annual diamond donations to the Gala, which have helped make this event a success. Kathy Pangallo of Kent won the Harry Winston timepiece.
