Local residents have notified Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna that they have received phone calls from a man impersonating a Robinson Memorial Hospital physician, asking questions for a survey and requesting personal information. These calls have typically been made during the night from a line listed as “private caller” on residents’ caller ID’s.
Robinson Memorial Hospital wants the public to know that they would never ask for personal information over the phone. A series of calls, very similar to the current ones being reported, took place in April of 2010 and again in January of 2011.
Legitimate hospital or physician calls may come after a recent office visit or if the patient is expecting test results or other information. If residents do not recognize the caller or don’t know why they might be receiving a call, the hospital advises them to hang up and not reveal any personal information. Residents can always call their doctor’s office to see if the office was trying to reach them.
If anyone receives a telephone call that seems suspicious in nature, please contact your local police department immediately.
